Your Craft. Your Chair. Your Rules.
The Barbering Program consists of 1,000 clock hours of technical instruction and practical operations covering all practices of barbering in accordance with state requirements. This program is delivered through a hybrid format: 50% online theory and 50% hands-on, on-campus training.
What You'll Learn
Technical instruction includes demonstration, lecture, classroom participation, and evaluation. Practical operations include the performance of services on clients under instructor supervision and are completed on campus in a professional training environment.
Cutting & Styling — The Core of the Craft
Hair analysis and every cutting technique — razors, scissors, electric clippers, and thinning shears for wet and dry cutting. Shampooing, finger waving, comb-outs, straightening, waving, curling, and blow dry styling.
Color, Chemical & Texture Services
Semi-permanent and temporary color. Hair analysis, strand tests, safety precautions. Formula mixing, tinting, bleaching, highlights, lowlights, and dye removers. Permanent waving and chemical straightening.
Shaving & Facial Services — The Barber's Signature
Client prep, skin assessment, straight razor shaving techniques, aftershave application, facial massage, and rolling cream massage. The craft that makes barbering its own art form.
Business, Safety & Professionalism
Professional ethics, client communication, salesmanship, and record-keeping. Tax basics for booth renters and independent contractors. Health, safety, sanitation, and California laws.
